Each year in mid-January Morro Coast Audubon Society hosts a multi-day bird festival that offers more than 100 events and attracts more than 500 participants. Events include field trips, workshops, and presentations. All-day and half-day tours take participants to a wide variety of habitats, including deep water pelagic, oak woodland and riparian, wetland and estuary, and the unique grassland habitat of the Carrizo Plain. Workshops cover a vast array of topics ranging from beginner birding classes to identification of difficult bird groups. Most events fill within days of opening, so if you want to participate we recommend you visit the festival website and request to be added to the festival mailing list.
